Water Orton Golf Club, Warwickshire.
The club was founded in 1902. To celebrate the opening of the club an exhibition match was played between William Evason, the 18 year old professional from Penn Common, Wolverhampton, and Andrew Bell. The Scot won by one hole.
It seems as though the club could have changed location or course layout; the following report is from the Gloucester Journal on Saturday 8th June 1907 – “Sir Oliver Lodge opened the new course of the Water Orton Golf Club, on Saturday afternoon, and expressed the wish that the principle of municipal free golf, as established in Edinburgh, might be extended to other places in this country.”
The club had closed by the onset of WW1.
