From the Manchester Courier Tuesday 23 January 1894 - "As many would be golfers in the Manchester district have some difficulty in finding a club to join or a green to play on, both being so generally overcrowded, we have pleasure in drawing attention to the advantages of the Hyde Golf Club. The Hyde links are conveniently situated, within two minutes' walk of Godley station. The greens are now in good condition and play takes place all year round. There are a few vacancies for members. Anyone wishing to join may obtain full information by applying to the hon. secretary, F H Pym, Arrowscroft House, Hollingworth Hollingworth, Cheshire."
From the Manchester Courier Tuesday 11 December 1894 -"The scratch competition of the Hyde Golf Club for a handsome silver gong, and the the captaincy of the club, which has been in the course of progression during the past few weeks, has now reached the semi-final stage. Some capital play has been witnessed in several of the heats, only two of which are left to be played. The Rev.
