Hythe and Dibden Golf Club, Hants. (WW2 - 1950s)

Presumably played over the former Hollybank Golf Club course at Hollybank.

The Hollybank Golf Club appears in the 1930s to WW2 (see separate entry on this website for the history of Hollybank Golf Club). 

Hythe & Dibden appeared following WW2.

From the 1947 Golfer's Handbook; Secretary was P J Rolt, Hartgrove, Dibden Purlieu; Professional, Dave Pook; Green-keeper L Cavill. All these were serving at Hollybank in 1940. Nine-hole course with a SSS and Par of 70. Visitors’ fees were 2/- a round, 3/- a day at weekend it was 2/6 a round and 4/- a day.

From the 1951 to 1956 Golfer's Handbook; Membership of 150; Secretary - F H Sanders, The Croft, Hythe; Professional was T Gillett; Green-keeper L Cavill; Nine-hole course with a SSS of 73 and Par 72; Amateur course record holder was A M Hudson 71; Visitors’ fees were 4/- a day, 5/- at weekend. The railway station at Hythe was ½ mile away. Local hotels were the Westcliff Hall and Golden Hind.

In the Hants Alliance of Amateurs and Professionals played at Waterlooville in June 1952 T Gillett and H C Tuck represented the Hythe & Dibden Golf Club.

Hythe and Dibden Golf Club disappeared in the mid 1950s.
