Ardara Golf Club, County Donegal. (1903 - WW1)

The club was founded in 1903.

In1905/6 the secretary was Michael McNelis, Ardara, County Donegal. A 9-hole course. The Captain was A M Hamilton Mossville. Visitors’ fees were 1/- a day, 5/- a week and 10/- a month. The station at Glenties was about 8 miles away.

In 1914 the secretary was still M McNelis now of Green House, Ardara, County Donegal. Membership at this time was 22.  Entrance fee was 10/6 and subs 5/-. The club had a six month season. Visitors’ fees were 1/- a day and Sunday play was allowed with caddies. The Nesbitt Arms was the local hotel, they also offered conveyance to and from the course at moderate terms.

There were three clubs recorded in the Ardara area pre WW1. They were Sandfields, Castlegoland (see separate entries) and Loughside Golf Club near Ardara, this could refer to the one above, but I would appreciate confirmation if anyone knows.

Ardara Golf Club disappeared after WW1.
