The later Kilternan Golf Club was founded in 1988 at the Kilternan Hotel.
In 2005, due to re-development work at the Kilternan Hotel, the members came to an agreement with the Powerscourt Golf Club to use their course on a temporary basis. in 2007 it was planned to play at the South County Golf Club in Brittas.
