Tarbrax Golf Club, South Lanarkshire. (1911 - 1920s)

Thanks to Alfie and Harry Ward for their help on defunct Clydesdale golf clubs and courses. They supplied the following history of the Tarbrax Golf Club.

There was a nine-hole course at Tarbrax and again, unfortunately, there is very little evidence left of its existence.

Only a few articles were rediscovered from the various newspaper archives, and none of those shed much light on the clubs origins or background.

A nine-hole course was laid out on the grounds of Lawhead farm around 1911 and was advertised annually in the Upperward Almanacs up to 1925 when the almanacs ceased to be published. This is the point when all trace of the club disappears into oblivion.

Two fields east of the village. Wood at the north eastern side of the fields. Farm at the south end of the course.

A Mr Somerville was captain in 1914.

Below is the result of a match played at Livingston in August 1925.
