Inverneill Golf Course, Argyll & Bute. (1890s)

Appeared in the late 1890s and was probably a private course on the estate owned by the Campbell family. They did however play matches against Lochgilphead.

On May 13th 1896 it was reported that “The members of Lochgilphead Golf Club were favoured with excellent weather on Saturday for what may be termed their annual visit to Inverneill, and as the competition has always proved most interesting and enjoyable event of the year about twenty members took part. Unlike the local course several of the greens at Inverneill have a considerable slope, and the players, particularly in the first round, added materially to their scores in putting. The course was thickly covered with daisies, and the players would have experienced great difficulty finding their balls but for the thoughtfulness of Captain Campbell in stationing men at various points to mark them. At the close of the match players were supplied with refreshments on the lawn by Mrs and Misses Campbell in front of Inverneill House"
