Stockgrove Park Golf Course, Bedfordshire. (1920s)

Michael Kroyer Kielberg took over the ownership of Stockgrove Park in the 1920s.

Sir Michael was born in Denmark in 1882 and came to Britain in 1907. He was a shipping magnate and also Chairman of United Molasses. During his period of ownership of the Park he had the present Georgian style house built on the site of the earlier house, he also had the parkland re-landscaped. It was probably during this time that he had a 9-hole golf course laid out in the grounds, designed by the golf course architect Fred Hawtree. The exact location and course layout details have still to be found.

Michael Croyer Kielberg was knighted in 1947 and died in 1958. By the side of the lake in the grounds a seat bearing the Kroyer Kielberg coat of arms stands as a reminder of his tenure.
