Extract from a report that appeared in the South Bucks Standard on Friday 12th October 1906; “Wilton Park Golf Club – Saturday last was the concluding day for play in the competitions occasioned by the generous gift from Sir John Aird to the Wilton Park Golf Club of a ladies’ prize and a challenge cup for annual competition by the gentlemen. Play for these very handsome trophies had extended over a fortnight, and, thanks to the energy of the hon. secretary, Mr H J Johnston, the course and greens were in the pink of condition. The last scores were received on Saturday afternoon, and at 5 o’clock the members were invited by Sir John and Lady Aird to attend the presentation of the prizes in the Library at Wilton Park. Sir John was wearing the scarlet coat of the Royal Blackheath Golf Club, of which he is the oldest member. The hon. secretary, Mr Johnston, was called on to read out the results of the competitions. In the ladies’ competition the following were the leading four; Mrs Dallmeyer, 81 (winner); Miss F B Williams, 81; Miss M Chester, 103; Miss D Young, 111. Result of the gentlemen’s Challenge Cup; G Hatch, 72; H J Johnston, 73; J B Williams, 74; J C Parker, 75. Sir John closed the formal proceedings by asking the members to tea in the dining-room, an invitation that was gladly accepted by all present.”
In June 1907 the ladies’ competition was won by Miss E C Hill, runner-up, Miss Auketell. Following is the result of the gentlemen’s competition; O J Johnston winner; H V Rafferty, runner-up.
Below is the result of the 1908 competitions. It’s also interesting to note the changes to the course, unfortunately the location of the course isn’t given.
