Izaac Walton Hotel Golf Club, Dovedale. (1901 - WW1)

Founded in 1901.

Sometimes spelt Izaak Walton Hotel.

a fine 9-hole dry course of nearly 2,200 yards with natural hazards and good greens, course laid out by George Lowe. The nearest station was the London & North Western Railway at Thorpe Cloud.

In the 1905 Nisbet's Golf Yearbook the secretary was F Evans, Islam, Ashbourne. Nine-hole amateur record, 48. Fine dry, bracing situation, a mile and a half round, with natural bunkers and sporting greens.

In 1906 the secretary was William Evans, Izaak Walton Hotel, Ashbourne, Derbys. Visitors’ fees were 2/6 a week and 10/- per season.

In 1914 the secretary was E Evans. There was no entry fee. Visitors to the hotel paid 2/6 a week and 10/6 a season. Residents in the neighbourhood paid 5/- a week.

Dovedale, Izaak Walton Hotel Golf Club disappeared after WW1.
