The following is from the 1905 Nisbet's Golf Yearbook; Instituted 1893; Hon. Secretary - J B Shapter, Sudbury, Derby; Entrance fee nil and subs £1/1s; Nine-holes; Green-keeper, W ayre; Professional record, P Rainford 37; Amateur record, Col. Spilllings 41; Terms for visitors. The club is a private one, but under certain conditions new members are received. There is no restriction on visitors playing the course . Fees are 1s a day, 5s a week. on communication with the secretary. The course is rough but sporting, the hazards consisting of trees and two reservoirs. Local hotel the Vernon Arms.
In 1914 the secretary was the Reverend E A Shrubs. A 9-hole sporting course on gravel soil with hazards consisting of trees and two reservoirs. There was no entry fee. Subs were £1/1/0. Visitors’ fees were 1/- a day and 5/- a week. The station was ½ mile away.
