Tideswell Golf Club, Derbyshire. (1905 - 1916)
Founded in 1905.
The first competition on the Tideswell course was played in December 1905, result as follows; Ladies – Mrs Cheetham, 96 scratch; Miss Parke, 131-30-101; Gentlemen – Dr Bone, 60-12-48; James Brierley, 78-25-53; Mr Scholes, 66-10-56. The president, Mr R Whitehead, of Hargate Hall, had given a silver cup to be competed for during the summer.
Report on the club from March 1906.
It was decided at a meeting held at the Grammar School in October 1906 to erect a pavilion on the links.
Result of the Whitehead Cup Competition played in September 1907; Ladies – Mrs Cheetham, 45net; Miss Handley, 47net; Gentlemen – T S Rogerson, 69net; B Allinson, 70net.
Eclectic competition result from December 1909; Ladies – Miss Parke, 29net; Mrs Demetriardi, 31net; Gentlemen – W Rogerson, 45net; J W Chamberlain, 48net.

In 1914 the secretary was Dr W G Boul, Tideswell Grammer School, Near Buxton. A 9-hole course of 2,542 yards with a membership of 50. There was no entry fee. Subs for gents were £1/1/0 and ladies 10/6. Visitors’ fees were 1/- a day. Sunday play was not allowed. The station at Millersdale was 3 miles from the course.
The following report appeared in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph Saturday 20th May 1916; "Tideswell Golf Club Dissolved - Tideswell Golf Club has been dissolved, and out of the balance in hand it has been decided to give two guineas to the Manchester Infirmary, two guineas to go to the fund on behalf of local men serving at the front, and one guinea to the Home Guards. War conditions and the loss of members have brought about the end of the club."
The course is marked on the Bartholomew Half Inch Map 1940-47 below. The golf course had long gone by this time.
