R.A.F. (North Luffenham) Golf Club, Edith Weston. (1976 – 2019)
Originally known as R.A.F. North Luffenham it eventually became North Luffenham Golf Club.
A testing nine-hole parkland course with 12 greens and 18 tees set amongst mature trees. The feature hole was the 434 yard dog-leg eighth hole.
The course was leased from the Ministry of Defence at St. George’s Barracks.
It was reported that the North Luffenham Golf Club would be closing on 31 March 31 2019. Uncertainty over the future of the site combined with dwindling membership numbers forced the club to review its options, but they failed to come up with an option.
Club president Malcolm Hird said: "This has been devastating news for many of the members who have been with the club for many years, some from the very beginning in 1976. It would be difficult to replicate the spirit we have here at any other club."
Club captain Andrew Boyce said: "The decision was taken with a great deal of regret and sadness."
