Market Rasen Golf Club, Lincolnshire. (1912 - 1922)
Founded in 1912.
From the Sheffield Daily Telegraph Thursday 14 March 1912 - "A CLUB FOR MARKET RASEN - A well attended meeting was held at the White Hart Hotel, Market Rasen, on Tuesday night, under the chairmanship of Mr A M Morris, when it was decided to form a golf club for Market Rasen and district. It was stated that a course of 43 acres had been provisionally secured on the Caistor Road, eminently suited for a nine-hole course, and there was plenty of room for extension to 18-holes if found necessary. It was decided to proceed with the making of the greens at once, and the following officers were elected for the ensuing year; Chairman, A M Morris; hon. secretary, Rev F T Smith; hon. treasurer, J R Hind; committee - Dr H W Pank, Dr D F Torrens; C Mason, W B Jevons; J W Honneyman, T B Baty, J H Nettleship, W Creasey, A Harris and R R Cary."
Rev. F T Smith was hon. secretary in 1913.
Originally a seven-hole course on Gallamore Road, it was quickly extended to nine-holes, see newspaper article below.
The club moved to its present location in 1922.
Result of the first match played on the new course in June 1923.
