Canwick Park Golf Club, Lincoln. (1973 – 2018)
The 18-hole undulating course with excellent views of the City of Lincoln the Cathedral and Castle was designed by Hawtree & Partners.
Canwick Park took over the history of the former Southcliffe Park Golf Club when it closed in 1974 (see separate entry on this website for the history Southcliffe Park.)
The new club started as the Southwick and Canwick Golf Club. It became Canwick Park Golf Club in 1986.
It was announced in November 2018 that the club would be closing. Members were devastated when they were informed at an EGM that the club would be placed in voluntary liquidation due to financial problems. Club membership had been in decline for some time.
The club rented the land from Jesus College, Oxford, for £25,000 per year. The land was originally given by the Sibthorpe family to the people of Lincoln for leisure purposes or for the grazing of animals.
