Spilsby & District Golf Club, Lincolnshire. (1894 - 1926)
The first club was inaugurated in 1894 under the chairmanship of Mr Ellis who was a former headmaster of Spilsby Grammar School. The course was laid out over "the butts" by the Rev. R Barrow and measured 2,020 yards. This early club was short lived although the exact date of closure is not known.
In 1901 a public meeting was held under the Chairmanship of General Richardson and the club was duly re-formed
In 1902 Spilsby was listed as a winter club. The professional was A E Coote.

This club terminated in about 1908 or thereabouts handing over the reins to a new club. The later club closed in about 1911.

In 1922 the secretary was J S Custance, Boston Road, Spilsby, Lincs, and the green-keeper C Smith. A 9-hole course with a membership of 60. Visitors’ fees were 1/- a day, 4/- a week and 10/- a month. The station at Spilsby was 1 mile away.
The annual meeting was held in the White Hart Hotel, Spilsby, on Wednesday 4 April 1923, Rev. C S Disbrowe presided. The balance sheet was showing a small balance in hand. Membership stood at 52. The course was in tip top condition. The following officers were elected; President, Earl Ancaster; vice-presidents - Lord Fermoy, Col. Sir A G Weigall, S Pattinson, M.P., W D Gainsbord; hon. secretary and treasurer, J C Custance; committee - Rev. G Lindley, E A Abbott, J Barrow, T R Lodge and G W Holderness.

The secretary had moved in the mid 1920s and was now at “Welham House” Queen Street, Spilsby. Membership in 1925/6 was 50. Local hotels were the White Hart and Shades.
