Holkham Golf Course, Holkham Hall, Norfolk. (Pre- WW2 - 1980s)
Little is known of this nine-hole course which was laid out in the grounds of Holkham Hall, Norfolk.
The scorecard below appears to be pre-WW2, especially with the reference to stymies under Local Rules. The names of the holes also give a clue to the location of the course within the park; South Lawn, Ice House, Cricket Ground, etc.
It’s unlikely that the original course survived the war, but, there is a suggestion that golf was played in on the grounds in the 1970/80s.
Thank to Barry Gayton for his help with the research into Holkham, and many other golf courses in East Anglia. Barry has a recollection that his brother in law actually played on the later course, hopefully more information to follow.

The Google Map below pinpoints the location of the “Icehouse” the name of the second hole on the golf course.
