Staythorpe Golf Club, Newark, Notts. (1990 - 1998)
Staythorpe Golf Club was a 9-hole EGU-affiliated course situated on the Staythorpe power station just outside Newark.
In June 1990 Philip Trueman won the Illinois Cup, club's first competition of the year.

In July 1992 Ian Dellar retained the club championship. After a first round of 78 he turned on the style in the second round and returned an impressive 65. Founder member Billy Wheat won the Captain's Day with a round of 66. Brenda Shilton scored a net 59 to retain the Lady Captain's Rose Bowl.

The following report accompanies the above picture - "Staythorpe Golf Club members line up for the camera before Sunday's Arthritis Care Cup competition. Brian Raybould won the men's section, Sue Sills took the ladies' honours, and £198 was raised for the Newark section of Arthritis Care. Staythorpe member and UK hole-in-one champion Clive Scothern finished fifth in the world championships in Tunisia organised by a national golf magazine."

When National Power decided to build a new gas-fired power station on the site in the late 1990s the club lost its course.

The membership moved to Oakmere Park in 1998 and formed a new affiliated club on an existing 9-hole course, becoming Oakmere Park Commanders Club.
