Corngreaves Golf Club, Cradley Heath. (1970s - 1999)
The course first appeared in the 1970s.
Originally a nine-hole par three parkland course. It was eventually extended to an 18-hole par 3 course.
In 1997 it was modified to accommodate a 9-hole full course with two sets of tees. Course measured over 3,900 yards with a SSS and Par of 61.
In 1998 the professional was Carl Yates. Visitors’ fees were £6.50 weekdays and £7.50 at weekend. Full catering facilities were available.
Corngreaves Golf Club was a municipal course owned by Sandwell council. Corngreave Hall was used as the clubhouse.
Opening of the new course in May 1997.
In 1999, the local authority decided to close the course because rounds had decreased to 13,000, less than a third of the total for nearby Brandhall Golf Club at Oldbury, and the council needed to make savings to their leisure budget. The course closed on 1 April 1999. The Hall was gutted by fire in February 2010. Restoration work was undertaken and it is now being converted into nine residential apartments.
