Founded in 1948.
The Sphinx Golf Club was formed by the golf section of Armstrong Siddeley Motors Ltd. The nine-hole course was located between Glencoe Road and Whitworth Avenue.
Result of a match played in January 1949.
Result of a match played at Marston Green Golf Club (now defunct) in September 1950.
In January 1951 B A Lewis holed in one at 180 yard first hole.
The captain in 1961 was Alexander Sutherland.

Playing in the Sphinx Invitation Open in May 1976 Paul Harris holed in one at the 195 yard second hole using a three wood. Gordon White was club captain in 1976.
