Orchard Golf Club, Huntley. (2000s)
Orchard was a delightful 9-hole par 34 (5,036 yard) pay and play course with undulating fairways, trees and several water hazards. Apparently the landowner no longer wanted to run the golf course. Appeals to the landowner, local and county councils by members and the local MP went unheeded.
The course will be much missed by local golfers, it seems that the course will now revert to nature.
A review of the course in 2011 - One of the best looked after courses in the area. This course is always kept in top condition. Greens are fantastic, as too are the bunkers which are full of soft fluffy sand. It is not a huge course but you have to be very precise where you hit your ball otherwise you could end up in trouble. It is only £7 to play nine holes at this course and is a pleasure to play.
