From the Oxford Times Saturday 17 October 1908 – “With October term upon us- the season of the Oxford City Golf Club comes to an end, and the University Golf Club commences. The members of the former club are congratulating themselves on a very successful season. The membership increases gradually, as does the activity of the club, very well exemplified by the fact that all the “cups” have changed hands, and none of last season’s medalists are on the prize-list for this season. The scratch prize for the “Hall Challenge Cup” goes to Mr J H Bradbury with 85 and 83, 168, the runner-up being Mr G Laxton with 85 and 87, 172.”

In March 1909 the Oxford Ladies’ Club played on the Cowley course against Gog Magog, the latter running out winners.

From the Oxford Times Saturday 4 December 1909 – “We much regret to hear that the captain of the Oxford City Golf Club (Mr J W Margetts) is leaving Oxford. This is indeed a blow to the City Club, for it means the loss of one of their oldest and most enthusiastic members and one of their best golfers. To those who are lucky enough to be numbered amongst his friends, the gap caused by his absence will be very real. His new home is at Brackley; we congratulate Brackley.”
