Chirbury Golf Club, Heightley Course. (1906 - WW1)
Founded in 1906.
A 9-hole course with good golfing turf, all the hazards were natural. There was a membership of 50. The entry fee was 5/-. Subs for gents were 10/6d and ladies 7/6d. Visitors’ fees 1/- a day, 4/- a week and 7/- a month. Sunday play was not allowed. Stations at Montgomery 5 miles and Welshpool 7 miles.
The initial meeting in February 1908.
From the Shropshire Chronicle Friday 1 May 1908; "CHIRBURY - The Golf Links - These links were formally opened on Thursday afternoon by Mrs J D Marshall. Although snow was falling pretty heavily throughout the day, about twenty or thirty people were present at the opening ceremony, which was followed by tea at Heightley."

Chirbury Golf Club disappeared after WW1.
Thanks to Jean Windsor, whose family have farmed there for several generations. She says that there was once a 9-hole course adjacent to her farm which is called “Heightley” and this was probably the site of Chirbury Golf Club.
