The club first appeared in 1983.
The 18-hole Parkland course of 5,957 yards had a par of 71 and SSS of 69. It had many water features, and views of the Cheshire Plain, Peak District and Mow Cop Castle. A Clingan was the professional.

A municipal course originally administered by Stoke City Council. It was taken over by Jack Barker Golf Company.

"Councillors reported at the Sandyford and Goldenhill Residents Public Meeting on Thursday 13 January 2011 that the City Council’s Legal Team has now closed the golf course at Goldenhill due to rent not being paid for the site."
The club closed in 2011.
