From the Birmingham Daily Post Friday 17 May 1940 – “HABBERLEY CLUB TO CARRY ON – A determination to carry on despite a fall in revenue which was described as “catastrophic “ was stressed at the annual meeting of the Habberley Golf Club. The professional and groundsman having joined the Army, members have undertaken the cutting and upkeep of the course, apart from the greens it is in excellent condition. G S Tomkinson was re-elected president; H Hodgkinson, honorary secretary; E J Barker, captain.”

From the Evening Despatch Friday 5 July 1940 –“Pte. Walter Dennis Jones, of Kidderminster, who before enlistment was professional to the Habberley Golf Club, is officially reported missing. News was last received from him on 21 May. He was attached to the R.A.O.C.”

It was reported at the end of May 1941 that Mrs W D Jones, wife of Pte. Jones, had heard from the War Office that it was regretfully concluded that he died on 30 May last year.

In October 1949 competitions were played to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the club; winners - E Hartwell, 82-14-68; Miss Joan Adams, 101- 36-65; mixed foursomes - S G Steward and Mrs P Wilkes.

In June 1950 John Means, formerly assistant professional at the Swinley Forest Golf Club, took up his duties as professional at the Habberley Golf Club.

Members of the ladies' section who qualified for the Charles Heeley Bowl in 1951 were; Silver Division - Mrs B Hodges, 66; Mrs J Robinson, 67; Mrs P Wilkes, Mrs S Best, 73; Bronze Division - Mrs M Fisher, 64; Miss J Adams, 69; Mrs M Moriaty, 73; Mrs O Britton 74; Mrs S Casado, 75; Mrs K Gregory, 76.

In October 1951 Dennis Phillips from Bingley was appointed professional to the Habberley club. 

Result of the ladies' monthly bogey in November 1951; Mrs B Hodges (16), three down; Mrs S Best (18), four down.
