Eddisbury Golf Club, Ashton Hayes. (1890s)
The following report appeared in the Cheshire Observer on Saturday 18 April 1891. "Early in February a golf club under the name of Eddisbury Golf Club was commenced at Ashton Heyes (sic) by a goodly number of ladies and gentlemen. Practices have regularly been held on Tuesdays and Fridays, and from the list below it will be seen that cups and prizes are given to those who prove that they are the greater adepts of the game. The club is of a private character, and the management is in the capable hands of Capt. Beresford Drummond."
