Cockermouth Golf Club, South Lodge Course. (1896 – 1906)
The club first appeared in 1896 with a short lived nine-hole course at South Lodge.
The club moved to its present location in 1904.

The reports below from 1904 and 1906 mention that golf was played on the picturesque links at Embleton. We can assume that the course at South Lodge had ceased to exist and the club were waiting for the current course to open.
