Founded in 1895.
The original 9-hole course was situated at Middle Fellgate. The current club on Meathop Road was founded in 1919.

The general meeting of the club took place at the working Men’s Institute on Thursday 3 March 1898. Competition winners for 1897; New Year’s Day competition winner, J Thoms; “The Crossley” T H Wilson; “The Merral” W Till; the club prize, A Rigg; the captain’s prize, W Till. Matches were played against, Kendal, Windermere, Furness, Seascale and Ulverston. The course was in excellent condition, the greens splendid. Eight new members had joined during the last year . The financial position of the club was very encouraging. The following officers were elected; captain, Rev G Vickars Gaskell; treasurer, J Askew; secretary, J E Higgin; committee, R H Beardsley, J H Midgley, T Rigg, W Till, G Podmore, J L Wilson and E Smith.
On Saturday 28 April 1898 the second playing of the President’s took place at Grange, the winner was T H Wilson 85-6-79.
Grange played a home match against Ulverston in June 1898, for the full result see Ulverston.

From the 1905 Nisbet’s Golf Yearbook; Instituted 1895; Membership of 70; Hon. secretary – J E Higgin, Broughton Bank, Grange-over-Sands; Captain - O W Porritt; Entrance fee £1/1s and subs £1/1s; Nine-holes; Green-keeper, Fred Hill; Terms for visitors, 2s a day, 5s a week, 15s a month. The links are very sporting but rather hilly, and are 2,500 yards in length. The greens are excellent. There is a small clubhouse. Hotels; “Grange” and “Crown.”
The club continued to be listed in the Nisbet’s Golf Yearboook until the outbreak of WW1.
