Competition for the captain’s prize played in June 1914; First round – J Starr beat H Anderton, 2up; C F Richardson beat R W Watkins, 3 and 2; A F Binks beat S Barker, 3 and 1; T Worthington, jun. beat W Glencross, 8 and 7; J Bolton beat J Elsworth, 2 and 1; J Barker beat F Russell, 6 and 4; T Armstrong beat T Evans, 2 and 1; Thomas Wortington, snr. beat J W Abernethy, walk over; In the final T Worthington, jun. beat J Bolton, 2 and 1.

The Whitley Park golf course was eventually taken over for housing development.
