Thanks to M C O'Brien for the following information and images.
The original courses closed at the time of WW2. The western side of the River Alt was used for farming and the east was used for the manufacturing of munitions.
In 1967 following reclamation and a redesign, the course reopened and thrived as there were few golf courses in that area of Liverpool.
The Kirkby Golf Club closed in 2016 and the lease of the land was taken over by a private company. The course is still there and the club has been renamed "Kirkby Valley Golf Club."
The nine-hole par 39 course is adjacent and overgrown. Features of this course can still be seen some 39 years since the nine-hole course closed.
The scorecard below is from the early 1990s. The course was slightly changed in the early 2000s due to the proximity of the M57.
"The ordnance survey map shows the club house on Wango Lane (left of picture). This is now a private residence but their garage was the original pro shop! The current 8th hole was the old first and what is now the 4th was the 9th as it made two loops that finished by the club house. This changed in approximately 1970 when a larger car park was required." Thanks to M C O'Brien.
