Bucklebury Place Private Golf Course, Woolhampton. (1900s - WWI)
The nine-hole was course laid out on the land of Mr Arthur W Sutton, a leading partner in the seed firm of Sutton and Sons of Reading. Annual spring and autumn meetings were played on the course.
The first mention found of golf at Bucklebury Place is the report below showing results from the spring meeting in 1903.

Newbury Weekly News and General Advertiser Thursday 19 October 1905 – “BUCKLEBURY GOLF LINKS – Open meeting Saturday October 21st – Gentlemen who are members of recognized clubs are invited to compete for the Challenge Cup which will be played for on Saturday next. Players may start any time between 9.30 and 2.30. Luncheon provided in the Club Room.”

Reading Observer Saturday 9 June 1915 – “Mr A W Sutton to leave Bucklebury – It was recently learned with general regret in Reading and Bucklebury that Mr and Mrs Arthur Sutton were about to leave their delightful home at Bucklebury Place for a residence nearer to London.”
