Trent Park Private Golf Course, Cockfosters. (1930s)
In 1909 Philip Sassoon acquired the Trent Park Estate in Barnet. He had a reputation of being a great host and amongst his many notable guests were Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill. The house was refurbished in 1923 and by the 1930s a private golf course had been laid out in the grounds.
From the Western Daily Press Monday 13 July 1936. "The King arrived on Saturday night at Trent Park, Cockfosters, New Barnet, to be the guest of Sir Philip Sassoon, Under Secretary for Ayr. The gardens at Trent are among the finest in the country, and there is private golf course, outdoor swimming pool, and orangery."
