Ruislip Golf Club, Borough of Hillingdon. (1912 – 2019)
The first club appeared at Kingsend Farm in 1912 and continued until WW1.
The club reappeared in 1921 with an 18-hole course on Ickenham Road.
The following message appeared on the Ruislip Golf Club Facebook page in 2019 – “Ruislip Public Golf Course will close on Bank Holiday Monday 26 August 2019. The golf course, golf shop and driving range will cease trading at 7pm on this day. This is due to HS2 taking possession of the land from the 2 September 2019.”
It was hoped that the club would reopen in 2023/24 with a nine-hole course.
From the Uxbridge & W. Drayton Gazette Saturday 16 November 1912; “THE GOLF LINKS - The Ruislip Golf Links are now nearing completion, and already a number of ladies and gentlemen have joined the club. The links are beautifully situated, and with such a low subscription as 10s/6d per year, will sure to attract large numbers of people, so that intending members will be well advised to make their applications for membership at once. As before stated, the links are conveniently situated as regards accessibility from the railway station, and everything points to them being a great success.”
From the Harrow Observer Friday 6 December 1912; “Ruislip – We understand that Councillor Weedon, of the Poplars, has opened a new golf course close to the village. We wish the enterprise every success.”

The Great War put paid to any further progress of the earlier club.
The club reappears in April 1921.

The annual meeting was held in December 1924, the following officers were elected; captain, A H Drysdale; hon. secretary, D Fidler; hon. treasurer, G T Weeden; committee – R Howland, J R Russell, J R Stebbings, F C Plumb and H C Fuller.
Match played in May 1925.
The final of the captain’s prize for the silver cup presented by Mr A H Drysdale was played on 11October 1925 between A H Woodward and A T Lowe. Woodward won by 8 and 7.

From the Uxbridge & W. Drayton Gazette Friday 13 November 1936 – “RUISLIP GOLF COURSE – Alex Herd has agreed to design the new golf course to be laid out at Ruislip, at a fee of 30 guineas.”

It was reported in August 1939 that out of 45 applications received for the position of professional and manager of the Ruislip Golf Course, Mr F Winsor of Creeksea, Burnham-on-Crouch, was selected. He was to take up his duties on 28 August.
During the war years the local Council ploughed and cultivated the municipal golf course.

In September 1950 Ruislip Golf Club, represented by D J Scott (scratch) and C F Redpath (1,) won the Middlesex County Inter-Club foursomes for the Frank Rowse Trophy at Hendon.

In the mid 1950s the secretary was J L Baxter, 63 Hartland Drive, Ruislip; professional, F J Winsor; green-keeper, S Rogers; 18-holes, 5,180 yards, SSS 66, par 65; amateur course record, D J Scott, 62.
In the early 1960s the hon. secretary was R S Cunningham, 48 Long Lane, Ickenham; membership of 250; professional, F J Winsor; green-keeper, R Rogers; 18-holes, 5,165 yards, SSS 66; visitors’ fees, 6 shillings a day, 8 shillings at weekend.
In the mid 1960s the secretary was L B Kilvert, 66 Oldfields Circus, Greenford; professional, Fred J Winsor; green-keeper, R Rogers.
In the 1970s the secretary was R E Rew (1972) J Barron (1975); professional, R Walton; visitors, 50p a day, (60p at weekend.)
During the 1980/90s the secretary was S M D Dunlop; membership of 300; professional, D Nash; 18-holes, 5,235 yards, SSS 66; course records; amateur - T Burchell, 66; professional – P Glozier, 59.
In 1998/2000s the professional was Paul Glozier; 18-holes, 5,571 yards, SSS 67; visitors, £12 (1998) £13.50p (2004.)
The club continued to be listed in the Golfer's Handbook until it ceased publication in 2015.
