Waffron's Golf Club, Surbiton, Surrey. (1895 - WW2)
The club was founded in 1895.
Reports on the proposed course in March 1895. The course to be laid out by Tom Dunn.
Below is a meeting of the Waffron's Golf Club in 1895.
The following information is from the Golfing And Cycling Illustrated 13 May 1897. "Visitors to the Surbiton Club's course who saw it for the first time on Saturday week were agreeably surprised. Until then they knew little of the charming surroundings of the place, its beautiful views, its splendid sporting possibilities. Under its old name of the Waffron's Golf Club the organisation came into existence as a proprietary concern a couple of years ago. Last year it changed its name to that of Surbiton Golf Club." Thanks to London Golf Heritage @LdnGolfHistory.
It appeared again as Waffron's in the 1930s and just after WW2. The professional was W C Horton.
