Gillingham and District Golf Club, Silton Course. Report on the new course in April 1912.

From Golf Illustrated 26 April 1912.

From the Western Gazette Friday 21 March 1913; “Gillingham and District Golf Club - The annual meeting was held at the Phoenix Hotel on Tuesday afternoon. In the absence of Mr A T Manger, Lieutenant-Colonel Troyte-Bullock took the chair. Those present included Captain Howell (hon. secretary), Revs. A J Gibson, and E Davis, Drs. Morgan and Walker, Messrs. Evan, R Down, H C Wyld, E B Down, O A Sellers and C F Ellerton (hon. treasurer). The hon. treasurer submitted his report and balance-sheet for the year, which showed a balance on the right side, and the accounts, audited by Mr A E Light, were considered satisfactory and passed. The join-presidents, A T Manger and Lieutenant-Colonel Troyte-Bullock, were re-elected, as well as the hon. secretary and hon. treasurer, and to the old committee, which were re-elected, were added the names of R W Kennard and Rev. E Davies. It was decided to carry on the club without raising the subscription of imposing an entrance fee, and with the intention of the committee to do all in their power to improve the course. The treasurer reported that the dividend on the Founders shares had been paid, and one share was thereupon drawn and paid off according to the Club’s undertaking. Votes of thanks were accorded the Trustees of the defunct Mere Golf Club for a handsome donation, and Lieutenant and Mrs Troyte-Bullock, and various members of the committee and officers for services rendered.”
