Mendip Golf Club, Doulting, Shepton Mallet. (1890s - 1908)
Founded in 1895.
The first course was laid out on Doulting Sheep Sleight.
The club moved to its current location in 1909.

From The Sketch Wednesday 25December 1895 – “The Mendip Golf Club and a hockey club are the latest additions to the sporting attractions of Shepton Mallet.”
Nothing further found on the first club.
The club reappears in October 1907 on the first course at Doulting Sheep Sleight.

Shepton Mallet Journal Friday 10 April 1908 – “Mendip Golf Club – The members of the local Golf Club held a meeting on Wednesday night, Mr Rumsey presiding over about 25 members. Mr A J Hooper was unable to attend, but he sent a very satisfactory financial statement. A competition was arranged to commence immediately. The question of fencing the greens was deferred. The club numbers about fifty members.”
