Athgarvan Golf Club, County Kildare. (1910 - 1922)

Founded in 1910.

A 9-hole course on the Curragh near Mallick's Hotel. The course was mainly used by locals who could not gain access to the Royal Curragh Club.

The professional from 1914 was J Petson.

Kildare Observer and Eastern Counties Advertiser Saturday 4 March 1916.

 

Local advertised hotel was Mallick’s - At the above annual meeting a resolution was passed "That the members of the club for the year 1915 feel much indebted to Mr and Mrs J Mallick for the accommodation and comfort afforded them during the year."

The club disappeared in 1922 when the British Army evacuated the nearby Curragh Camp.

The Google map below shows the location of the former golf course. In 1949 the current Athgarvan Pitch and Putt Club laid out a course on the site.
