Inchydoney Golf Club, Clonakilty, County Cork. (1895 - 1950s)

The club first appeared in 1895 on a nine-hole course close to the town and was known as the Clonakilty Golf Club.

The links were half a mile from The Imperial Hotel. The secretary was J McNamara of the Imperial Hotel. There was a membership of 40.

The Inchydoney Golf Club was founded in 1909. A 9-hole course. The station was 1 ½ miles away. 

In 1914 the secretary was D Kavanagh, National Bank. The club had a membership of 60. There was no entry fee. Subs for gents were £1 and ladies 7/6.Visitors’ fees were 2/6 a week. Sunday play allowed without caddies. 

From 1922 to 1929 the secretary was John Crowley, Clonakilty, Co Cork. The greenkeeper was Thomas Hayes. Membership at this time was 70. Visitors’ fees were 2/6 a week. 

There was a gap of about four years until the club appears again in the early 1930s on a nine-hole golf course laid out by Tom Travers of Dun Laoghaire. The clubhouse was 300 yards from the Inchydoney Hotel.   

Inchydoney Golf Club disappeared in the late 1950s.
