Aberfeldy Golf Club, Perth & Kinross. (1889)
The earlier two courses in Aberfeldy first appeared in 1889.
The current club was founded in 1895 with a nine–hole course alongside the River Tay. The club is still at this location.
In 1991 the club acquired land across the river and further eight-holes were laid out which became holes 6 – 13. A new footbridge was built over the river to gain access to the new holes - the additional holes were opened in time for the club Centenary in 1995.
The club reverted to nine-holes in 2016.
Result from the spring meeting April 1890.
Evidence of earlier club and courses at Aberfeldy - The following is from the 1891/92 Golfing Annual – Aberfeldy Golf Club; Instituted 1889; Annual Subscription, Ten shillings; Number of members, 13; Captain, W L Wood; Secretary – Thomas Bett, Dalmalinnie, Arbefeldy; Green-keeper, W Menzies. There are two courses, both private, one of seven-holes in Weem Park, Aberfeldy, and the other – nine-holes – at Welar, about two miles distant, and 1200 feet above sea level.
The winner of the Spring Trophy played in March 1893 was P Stevens, Weem.
It was reported in the Scottish Referee in October 1894 that “The Aberfeldy Golf Club had started their autumn competitions”.
The current club comes into being in November 1895. Interesting to note the name of the club was to be the Breadalbane Golf Club.
Report on the extended course in 1995.
Unfortunately the new holes were abandoned in 2016, the article below records the loss of this part of the course.

Thanks to Douglas Lockhart who visited the site on Thursday 1 October 2020 and took the pictures below. After a period of five years the former holes are overgrown and many of the features have disappeared.
The scorecard and course plan below is for the current nine-hole course (2020).
The Google Map below shows the abandoned holes.
