Craignure Golf Course, Isle of Mull. (1895 - 1970s)
Founded in 1895.
The course was originally laid out on slightly undulating ground on machair, a distinctive type of coastal grassland found in this area of Scotland, and close to the ferry at Craignure. The dates for the original club’s demise have yet to be found.
The early history of the course seems to have been lost in the mists of time.
The current club appears in 1987.
The Ordnance Survey Map below is from the 1890/1900s. At this time it was known as Duart House.
It’s recorded that the Torosay Club played over the Craignure course during the 1920/30s.
