The course opened on Saturday 9 November 1907; The professional at the time was J Stewart.
A-9 hole course with a bogey of 41, holes varied in length from 180 to 430yds. It was laid out on fine peaty soil situated on high ground near Loch Indaal commanding fine views. Sunday play was not allowed. In the early years the club closed annually from the 12th April to 12th May (no reason was given for this closure). There was a membership of 100 during the 1920s, decreasing to 50 by closure. The ports at Askaig and Ellen were 10 miles away. Local hotels were the Machrie and the White Hart.
In 1914 subs for gents were 10/6d, ladies 5/-. Visitors’ fees were 1/- a day, 2/6d a week and 6/- a month.
In 1923 visitors’ fees were 1/6d a day, 3/- a week, 5/- fortnight and 7/6d a month.
In 1940 visitors’ fees had increased to 1/6d a day, 4/6d a week, 7/6d a fortnight and 10/6d a month.

The club had closed by the outbreak of WW2. Following the closure the clubhouse was used as a private dwelling; it was finally demolished in 1986.
