Strath (Ashaig) Golf Club, Isle of Skye, Highland. (1930s)
In 1930, the first appearance of Strath Golf Club, the secretary was A Mackellaig, Bank of Scotland, Broadford. The green-keeper was J Macinnes. The amateur course record was held by Ian Macrae with a score 42. Visitors’ fees were 1/6d a day, 5/- a week, 8/6d a fortnight and 15/- a month. Local advertised hotel was the Broadford.
By 1935 Strath Golf Club had disappeared and Ashaig Golf Club, Breakish appears.
It is interesting to note that the green-keeper at Ashaig Golf Club, J Macinnes, was also at Strath Golf Club in the 1930s. It is probable that it was the same course with name changes.
