Craig Dunane Hospital Golf Course, Leachkin, Inverness. (1950s)
The course was in existence in the 1950s. There is a possibility that the foundation date could have been earlier. The exact closure date is still to be found.
Thanks to Evan Macdonald for the following information. There was once a nine-hole golf course located at the Leachkin in Inverness. The Craig Dunain golf course was located within the grounds of Craig Dunain Hospital. Craig Dunain opened in 1864 as the Northern Counties District Lunatic Asylum. It closed in 1999 but at one time had a rugby pitch, a football pitch, a bowling green and tennis courts as well as the golf course on its land.
The Google Map below pinpoints the location of the course.
