Tillicoultry Golf Club, Clackmananshire. (1899 – 1922)

The club was founded in 1899 with a nine-hole course to the south of Lady Ann’s Wood.

The club moved to its current location in March 1922.

Club professionals; William McLauchlan, 1910-1912; William Murray, 1912-1914.

The golf course was opened on Saturday 8 April 1899 by Mrs Robert Archibald of Westbourne.

Result of the captain’s medal played in September 1899; Mr McLachlan, 106-12-94; Mr Whitney, 106-10-96; Mr Loudon, 111-14-97; Mr Campbell, 119-14-105.

Below is the result of a match played at Tillicoultry against Kinross Golf Club on Saturday 7 April 1900.

Result of a mixed competition played in June 1900; Miss Downie Hunter and Mr Farquhar, 62-13-49; Miss Mary Gibson and Rev. L Macfadyan, 52 scratch. In the final between Mr Duff and Mr McLachlan for the travelling rug presented by Gilbert Paterson , Mr Duff was the winner.

The winner of the February 1904 medal was Peter Syme.

Entry from the 1905 Nisbet’s Golf Yearbook; Instituted 1899; membership of 85; station one mile; hon. secretary – T W Anderson, Tillicoultry; captain, R Archibald; entrance fee nil and subs 10 shillings; nine-holes; visitors sixpence a day and 1s/6d a week.

In June 1905 John Campbell created a new record for the nine-hole course; 4,4,3,4,6,4,2,3,4 = 34.

The November 1905 monthly medal was won by Robert Ferguson 79 net.

The January 1906 monthly medal was won by R T Whitney, 81 net.

The winner of the March 1908 monthly medal was W Roy, 92-14-78. The winner of a sweepstake competition was W McLachlan, jun., 78-4-74.
