Falkland Golf Club, Woodmill Farm Course, Dunshalt. (1940s)
There is reference to golf being played in the town in 1503.
The club was founded in 1902 with a course on the Myre.
The Myre course suffered severe damage during WW2 and the course was unplayable following the war. Due to this the club needed find a new home.
Land was eventually secured at Woodmill, Farm, Dunshelt, to lay out a nine-hole course (reports often use the spelling Dunshelt).
The club eventually moved back to the Myre in the 1970s

From the Dundee Courier Friday 9 May 1947 – “For Sale, as previously advertised, Clubhouse of Falkland Golf Club. Further particulars from Robert S Drysdale, Secretary, Back Wynd, Falkland, who will receive offers.”

From the Fife Free Press & Kirkaldy Guardian Saturday 30 August 1947 – “Wanted, to purchase or hire, three-gauge mower, suitable for cutting fairways; also, motor lawn mowers. Price and particulars to R S Drysdale, secretary, Falkland Golf Club.”

The club reappears at the Myre in 1975.
