Falkland Golf Club, Fife. (1902 - 1950s)
There is reference to golf being played in the town in 1503.
The club was founded in 1902 with a course on the Myre.
The Myre course suffered severe damage during WW2 and the course was unplayable following the war. Due to this the club needed find a new home.
Land was eventually secured at Woodmill Farm, Dunshelt, to lay out a nine-hole course.
Auchtermuchty Golf Club lost their course following WW2. A proposed amalgamation was made between Falkland and Auchtermuchty to play on the course at Woodhill Farm.
The club eventually moved back to the Myre in the mid 1970s.

In July 1908 the annual competition for the Morrison Medal (scratch) took place, the winner was Walter Peggie with a score of 85. The first competition for the rose bowl presented to the club by Miss Gulland, the captain, was won by Miss Brunton with a score of 57.

The club opened the season in April 1915 with the monthly medal. There was a good turnout of players and the weather was ideal. The winner was John Braid with a score of 86-6-80.
The club eventually went into abeyance at the time of WW1.

In July 1939 R Anderson was the winner of the Weir Shield with a scratch score of 71; Runner-up T Watson, 90-18-72.

The winner of the May 1940 monthly medal was R Anderson, 71-6-65.
The winner of the scratch medal in June 1940 was R Anderson (79), runner up was A Worsey.

From the Dundee Courier Friday 9 May 1947 – “For Sale, as previously advertised, Clubhouse of Falkland Golf Club. Further particulars from Robert S Drysdale, Secretary, Back Wynd, Falkland, who will receive offers.”

From the Fife Free Press Friday 2 November 1973 - "At a meeting of former members of Auctermuchty and Falkland Golf Club, in abeyance for many years, it was decided to transfer remaining funds to the new Falkland Golf Club."
The club reappears at the Myre in 1975.
Interesting to note the foundation date in the following entry from the 1991 Golfer’s Handbook; Founded 1976; Membership 240; Secretary, Mrs C R Forsyth; Nine-hole course at the Myre, 9-holes, 2,384 meters, SSS 76; Amateur course record – W Garland, 67 (1987).
