From the Edinburgh Evening News Friday 25 August 1899; “Golf Course at Yetholm – The village of Yetholm which is rapidly coming into prominence as a health resort, has just had a golf course added to its attractions. The opening ceremony was performed yesterday in fine weather, and afterwards a handicap was played. Best scores; D Hume (Eyemouth), 93-3-90; E Newman (Jedburgh), 106-12-94; Dr Mackay (Berwick), 103-8-95.”
North British Daily Mail Saturday 26 August 1899; “In recent years the village of Yetholm, lying at the base of the Cheviots, has become very popular as a British health resort, and for some time it has been felt something more than the natural beauties was needed to attract visitors. After numerous unsuccessful attempts a suitable course as at last been obtained, and the opening ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon in splendid weather. Result of the opening handicap competition; D Hume (Eyemouth), 93-3-90; E Newman (Jedburgh), 106-12-94; Dr Mackay (Berwick), 103-8-95; J B Bywater (St Andrews), 107-12-95; R R Riddell (Berwick), 106-8-98; Adam Darling (Berwick), 113-15-98.”
Recollection of the course from the Southern Reprter Thursday 6 September 1990; “She then produced a medal for a competition organised by Yetholm Golf Club. How many people remember the whereabouts of the Golf Course.”
