Isle of Whithorn Golf Club, Dumfries and Galloway. (1913 – WW1)

The club closed following WW1.

A nine-hole course located on Isle Farm. Isle of Whithorn.

From The Scotsman Monday 14 April 1913 – GOLF COURSE FOR ISLE OF WHITHORN – It has been decided to provide a golf course at the Isle of Whithorn. A suitable site had been obtained on the Isle Farm along the shore, and there is every likelihood of the course being ready for play this summer.”

From the Galloway Gazette Tuesday 13 May 1913 – “Isle of Whithorn Golf Course is now open for play. It promises to be in excellent condition when once it is in good playing condition, as it should be in a few weeks time. The membersip is already close on 70.

From the Galloway Gazette Friday 11 June 1914 – “The recently erected Isle of Whihorn clubhouse was opened on Thursday before a large turnout. The vice-predident welcomed Mr W T Hawthorn, Whithorn, and Mr J H Thomson, Portwilliam, and after the company had been photographed, the two players mentioned had a large following round the course”.
