Ardwell Golf Club, Dumfries & Galloway. (1890s)
Founded in 1893.
In September 1893 it was reported that “the young club was in a very flourishing condition” The course was situated 10 miles from Stranraer, near to the residence of Sir Mark Stewart, Bart., M.P. The greens were in good order for a match played between Mr John Shaw of Troon Golf Club and the Rev W Marshall. Mr Shaw won the game returning a score of 80, a record for the course.
