Göhrlsdorf Niederlausitz Private Golf Course. (1930 - 1945)

In 1915 Dr. Hans Kehren and his wife Elisabeth became owners of Görlsdorf Manor.

The 1931 yearbook of the German Golf Federation confirms the existence of a private golf course at Görlsdorf owned by Dr. Hans Kehren. On 15 April 1934, the Deutsche Golfzeitung reports that “Richard Kehren, a young player who learned his golf on the private links owned by his father has played quite successfully in Oberhof [Thuringia] even if his golf swing still lacks a little hardness.”

Photos from the family archive do confirm that guests were visiting the 9-hole course in order to play golf together with members of the Kehren family. The tee shot on No. 7 required to carry a water pond both from the gentlemen and ladies tees.

It is believed that no golf was played in Görlsdorf after the end of the 1930.

Elisabeth Kehren was the last owner of the Görlsdorf manor. She left in 1945, afterwards parts of the castle complex caught fire. The remaining rooms were initially used as accommodation for refugees from the east. The buildings were later converted into a hostel for apprentices and are now in private use.

Today, the former park is overgrown, and the traces of the former fairways are no longer recognisable.
