Merseburg Golf Club, Leuna. (1933 - 1939)

Leuna is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, just south of Halle (Saale). It is known for the Leuna works, one of the biggest chemical industrial complexes in Germany dating from the 1930s.

In 1933 the Golf-Club Merseburg-Leuna was founded and a rather primitive golf course playing from 9 tees onto three greens was laid out next to the public bath “Waldbad Leuna”. By the end of 1933 the club had 78 members and the course played over 5.008m with a S.S.S. of 69.

In 1938 construction of a new golf course at nearby Bad Dürrenberg began and by the end of 1939 the golf course at Leuna was abandoned.
